Worked well as Personal Item

I was traveling over a weekend as economically as possible. I got a cheap flight that only permitted 1 personal item. The small zipper compartment worked as my 'purse', conveniently housing ID, credit card, cellphone & cash. The main body held clothing, chargers, meds, tablet, etc. , and it stored easily under the seat. I haven't had it long enough to judge the durability, but it will be going with me on all my travels.

this is the pack i was looking for!

i purchased this pack without trying it out first (which i *never* do) and i feel like i lucked into the bag i've been looking for my entire adult life. this is the first daypack i've owned that fits "just right. " it rides high on me and i think it's due to where the top of the shoulder straps are attached (a few inches from the top of the bag). the entire weight of the pack is not hanging off the top of my shoulders so i do not experience shoulder or lower-back fatigue. poor weight distribution has been my biggest hang-ups with off-the-rack daypacks, and i was resigned to either make do or make my own, but this pack has saved the day! the straps, in general, are contoured in a way that allows my arms to move freely and without irritation, and the position of the chest strap is neither too high nor too low, so there's no chafing or choking. the material seems rugged enough to withstand a harsh commute; i'm eager to see how it will perform through the upcoming field season. i use it as my daily commuter bag and find the laptop compartment very roomy and well padded (without being bulky). i rarely use the velcro strap. the main compartment fits my 15" laptop, a few notebooks and files, field glasses, snacks, and a down sweater with some room to spare. when it's that full, however, the large front pocket only has space for a few slim things like a phone or a notebook, but that's not a big detraction for me. the main compartment can be a bit awkward to access if you're hanging the pack from its top loop, but that also makes it feel more secure as it's less accessible to others when it's on your back. the pack does not stand on its own but, again, not a big detraction as i prefer to keep it off the ground whenever possible. the water bottle pockets on each side seem deep enough that they will securely hold my 20 oz insulated bottle, which is skinnier than a nalgene. i really have to stretch to get the bottle in when the pack is full, however, so i worry that the elasticity will quickly diminish after daily use. none of these trifles, however, are enough to warrant a less-than-5-star review for a pack that *finally* fits!

Great go-to bag

I bought this pack to replace my shoulder bag for commutes and travel, and it's perfect. It sits close to my back for comfort, it has a very workable number of pockets, and the main compartment is big enough for whatever needs to get from here to there. On top of that, the colors are great. The earth-friendly materials put it well over the top relative to other packs, in my opinion. Love this pack!

Great replacement for worn messenger bag

I bought this on the winter sale site to replace an old Patagonia messenger bag that had seen better days. It is great for everyday use as a work bag for laptop, iPad, and notebook. I like that it stands up and opens from the top. The top compartment is good for keys and a sunglasses case. There are side pockets for water bottles and a front opening for easy access to the iPhone. Fits easily under airplane seat. shoulder straps and top strap for easy carrying.
